It's been a long week and I need to blow off some steam. So....Nevada Democratic Caucus spread!
Weirdly, all of them came out reversed. This could signal another delay in reporting (heaven forfend!) or ambiguous results, but I really hope not. I turned them all upright for interpretation.
SANDERS: Judgement. This is the same card I drew for him in the Iowa caucuses! where, whatever else happened, he led in the raw vote count. This seems likely to occur again - despite Nevada's fabled resistance to M4A.
WARREN: Temperance says "very narrow path to the nomination" to me, but also the discipline to stay on that path. As a major arcanum, I think it does hold more significance for Warren than her draw in NH (4 of Wands rx) or IA (5 of Swords). Since the last debate, Warren is having a moment. Temperance suggests that's enough to keep her "in it".
BUTTIGIEG: 5 of Wands. The "Lord of Strife" - i.e., "the competition is heating up" - doesn't look so encouraging for Buttigieg. It may or may not signify 5th place. What I think it *does* signify is 5 remaining viable candidates after NV.
BIDEN: The World. This is the toughest of the lot to interpret. It's a huge draw. It's either 1) It's totally over - since the World is the last of the major arcana sequence, or 2) He's back in his safe space. (Sorry, I realize this is the worst kind of "fuzzy tarot".) Either way though it should be a decisive result for Biden.
KLOBUCHAR: 5 of Pentacles. "Klobal warming" or not, this looks absolutely terrible for Klobuchar. The 5 of Pentacles is the definition of "out in the cold". Klobuchar has no real base of support in NV, so I wouldn't be surprised if she comes out with a lackluster or even campaign-ending finish.
BLOOMBERG: Ace of Wands. Not actually on the ballot, but Ace of Wands speaks to the strong start Bloomberg’s looking for on Super Tuesday.
As always, I will try to prognosticate the final lineup.
Sanders
Warren
Buttigieg
Klobuchar
As I said, I don't know what to do with Biden (much like the American voting public!). Either he's out (5th or 6th), or he's back in (2nd or 3rd).
For review, here’s my Iowa Caucus spread post.
I was too busy to do a post for New Hampshire, but here’s the spread I did that day.
Whatever happens, let us hope we have conclusive results tonight!
