Hi everybody! It’s been a little while, I know. As 2020 gurgled nastily down the drain, I was furiously driving myself toward a self-appointed goal: to complete this book before New Year’s Day. In the end I made it, with just 5 hours to spare.
36 Secrets: A Decanic Journey Through the Minor Arcana of the Tarot began almost two years ago when I launched the Reading the Decans series. From Aries I: 2 of Wands to Pisces III: 10 of Cups, I spent a year walking the decans card by card; my journey ending as the coronavirus lockdown bore down on us.
Through many long quarantine hours I wrote and re-wrote those 36 essays, pouring everything I knew about the minor arcana into them. (“Sauron forged in secret a master ring, to control all others.. And into this Ring, he poured his cruelty, his malice, and his will to dominate all life.” OK, OK, I’m not here to cover Middle-Earth in a second darkness! But this is, in a way, my One Ring.)
Here you’ll find my thoughts on the guest-host relationship and the 3 of Wands, the 7 of Cups’ dark alchemy, the ‘snagged bobbin’ of the 8 of Swords, the 2 of Pentacles’ acts of material enchantment. There are forays into the Picatrix, speculations into the nature of reality and the uses of magic, and many many Orphic Hymns. It’s totally your kind of thing. I really love it, and I hope you do too.
I self-published this one to make it just the way I wanted it, and you can pick it up at the Lulu Bookstore. It’s on Amazon, too, for the same price. But I fare much better if you pick it up on Lulu, so do a girl a favor!
